Web Seminar Biosurveillance in Wastewater – Focus on the detection of pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2 (Coronavirus) in Wastewater

Content and goals of the Web Seminar

Duration: ~60 min
Language: English

Speaker: Christoph Heddergott, Product Manager Life Science Solutions - Analytik Jena  | Amod Arora, Business Development Manager Life Science - Analytik Jena India

The Analytik Jena Workflow for SARS-CoV-2 detection in wastewater is a powerful process for wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE). It uses high performance nucleic acid extraction and purification technologies and gold standard molecular detection techniques. Due to its modular design, the process can be adapted for other sample types (e.g., tap water, solid samples) and is scalable from single sample measurement up to 96+ sample processing at different automation levels. The PCR detection can be adapted to any target without changing instrumentation. As an open system, it can be used with a variety of PCR kits and consumables without limitation. This web seminar presents the key features of the process and depicts possible applications in the life science sector.

Key learning objectives are:

  • Flexible nucleic acid extraction on automated & scalable platforms together with a variety of kits suitable for different sample types
  • Sensitive and specific detection of target organisms in wastewater, water, and solid samples
  • Accessory lab instrumentation for molecular biology/biochemistry laboratories
